The Yuri of Mai and Yuuko

Episode 4 of Nichijou. Mai just made a whole confession to Yuuko. Before Yuuko can give a full relpy, Mai said she was joking... OR WAS SHE?!!!!!!

This moment has been scratching at my brain for years. I even memorized the volume and chapter the moment can be found in the manga. (Volume 7, Chappter 110). This scene is what made me the Himejoshi I am today.

Where do I even begin with this. Well I say Mai is a weird Lesbian who like Yuuko ever since the day they met. They first met in middle school, and the first thing Yuuko ever asked Mai was " What part of Japan is Alaska at?". It's so funny, and Mai never left her side since. Yuuko told Mai that she can call her Yukko since thier besties now, and Mai spent all night trying to build up the courage to say Yukko. Yeah this girl is fucking gay. Want more proof, Mai made the decision to put her main highschool of choice the once Yuuko going to, and made a highly rated highscool, her back up. Mai is putting in the effort to floow Mai to the end.

You may be asking (You're not I bet) " How can this evidence mean anything if she told yuuko she was joking?" Well, what if I tell you that Mai is good at confusing Yuuko. Mai always messes with Yuuko. She got it down to a science. She knows Yuukos biggest weakness, is that she's stupid. Mai was telling the truth when she said she was joking, but she clarified she was joking about something specific. This of courses confused Yuuko to the point she gave up on trying to figure out when Mai was joking. So Mai told her this "I was joking when I said you are quick to catch on". Implying everything else she said was true, escpecially her confession.

Has anything major ever happened to the relationship between Yuuko and Mai? No. Aside from a panel of Mai on Yuukos bed, nothing ever really progess. The series has mostly stuck with being gag heavy during later volumes. Sadly it's been confirmed that Yuuko marries Makabe Tsurubishi (a Main character in City). Is it a happy marriage? I don't know, they just get text from her and she's mostly just absent from her family lives. It was also confirm that Yuuko mom had an arrange marriage with someone she doesn't love.( Who to say it wasn't the same for Yuuko.) Who knows, maybe Mai and Yuukos relationship will get expanded upon in the new volumes. Hopeful thinking. I will still draw yuri for them and I will still Quote this.

"If i had a nickel for everytime a Mai loses her close burnette love to some guy, I get too. Not alot, but weird that it Happens Twice."
